owner, therapist and teacher

a mother

I live with my husband, three children and 2 giant dogs. Like so many parents, I am constantly searching to balance family, work, self-care and other responsibilities and interests. For this reason, Homebody Therapy and Wellness hours are those that work for my family. I will work with your family and you to find a schedule that works for you as well. When I am not working or with family, I love learning new things from podcasts, books and magazines about health, psychology and parenting. In addition to yoga, I enjoy crossword puzzles, baking and both traveling and being a homebody.

a physical therapist

After graduating college, I became a Teach for America kindergarten teacher. I loved my students but decided to return to graduate school to become a physical therapist. In 2007, I started my career doing physical therapy with children in schools and early intervention (birth to three years). For 7 years, I worked for Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore doing a combination of early intervention, therapy in a medical childcare center, and outpatient physical therapy. After moving home to the Philadelphia area in 2016, I worked for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in multiple settings. I believe that to successfully treat patients, I must first build a trusting relationship with their families and them. I use a variety of therapy techniques and each child and family is different, requiring different approaches to meet their specific needs. Working together is essential for meeting therapy goals and I consider it a success when a patient not longer requires my help.

a yoga teacher

I dabbled in yoga but was hooked after I found a great teacher at my local gym. I knew I was benefiting from her classes but did not fully appreciate it until I was in labor with my second daughter and realized how much better I was handling the pain and stress by using techniques I had learned in my yoga classes. I have practiced yoga since! During the pandemic lockdown, I turned to yoga and in June 2021, I completed yoga teacher training. It was intended for self-care but through the process, I realized that I want to share the benefits of yoga with others. I do not subscribe to a particular style of yoga and my primary focus is on good alignment and preventing injury. I feel comfortable teaching a variety of levels and ages. Personally, my favorite yoga classes are the ones that gently challenge me physically, awaken my mind, offer some flow between poses and end with a calm savasana (rest).
